Emotional Ecosystem, explores Self-Awareness, Authenticity and Trust. Participants learn about the emotional systems of the brain and body, which evolved in mammals to ensure group survival. This created a new set of cues and inputs for our brains to process, adding emotions to the already complex interdependence between, mood, stress and energy. Take Fear of Missing Out (or FOMO), it is far from a modern phenomena, it’s a deeply ingrained biological response to exclusion and thus having your survival chances reduced. Our participants learn that there is a virtuous (or vicious) relationship between Self Awareness, Authenticity and Trust; what the core emotions are; what these emotional cues do to our body, how we can better recognise them, their impact on us and those around us, and be aware that unconscious emotions can quite literally hijack our conscious brain. Clients are also able to recognise that suppressing or not dealing with emotion takes energy that could otherwise be employed more productively.

We believe that emotion is the primary driver of behaviour in teams and social groups. It can create powerful bonds and generate energy for extraordinary endeavour. Or it can promote rivalries and rifts, and pull the brakes on performance. If untended, runaway emotions in individuals and teams are a cause of significant stress, and result in process losses and deficiencies in cognitive capacity.

Emotionally authentic leaders create an environment of psychological safety, resulting in higher engagement and increased performance.

Participant Outcomes

  • An understanding of what emotions are, and what purpose they serve, in bio-psychological terms
  • The relevance of emotions to, and their impact on, leadership and team performance
  • Increased awareness of their own emotional responses to people and situations in the workplace
  • Familiarity with a selection of frameworks designed to assess the accuracy and appropriateness of their own emotional responses and those of other team members
  • The ability to better identify when emotions are biasing individual and team decisions and behaviors
  • Increased confidence in experiencing and expressing appropriate and authentic emotions and in openness to conversations about these
  • The ability to create and promote a culture of psychological safety in teams
